Brent Phillips - Project Manager
Brent is currently Director – Language, Partnerships & Innovation at Vicdeaf. Brent was instrumental in the establishment of the Emergency Services Interpreting Team, and has developed a strong partnership with Emergency Management Victoria around access and inclusion for Deaf and hard of hearing Victorians in the lead up to, during and after times of emergency. He has BA (Criminology) and MBA degrees and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Julie Judd - Project Coordinator
Julie has been an Auslan/English interpreter for over 30 years and holds a Masters in Interpreting & Translating from Macquarie University. Julie is a native Auslan user, and comes from a Deaf family. Julie is passionate about ensuring Deaf, hard of hearing and Deafblind people receive information in their preferred language, Auslan (Australian Sign Language) in all facets of civil life, especially in all stages of emergency events.
Sherrie Beaver - Project Officer
Sherrie is responsible for managing, researching and collating data for this project along with supporting the coordinator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Cultural and Social Analysis from Western Sydney University, and is about to complete her Masters in International and Community Development at Deakin University. Sherrie’s research interests are: social media, community development, accessible information in emergencies, and Deaf Studies.
Jessica Moody - Resource Development Officer
Jessica’s role ranges from scheduling/directing film shoots, to filming in the studio, and editing various training, and educational videos for the project website. In the past, Jessica has worked with St. Martins Youth Theatre, Accessible Arts NSW, Arts Access Victoria, Australian Theatre of the Deaf, Frankston Arts Centre and more. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts (Theatre Theory).
